Privacy Policy
The short version. Glowcast needs no account, shows no ads and does not track you across other apps or websites. Your shows, photos and fitted layouts stay on your device. Microphone, camera and photo access are used on your device only. We collect a small amount of data to run the website and waitlist, process purchases through the App Store or Google Play, understand how the app is used, and fix crashes. We never sell personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains how AppFusion (“AppFusion”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use the glowcast.cam website (the “Site”), join our launch waitlist, contact us, or use the Glowcast mobile app on iPhone, iPad and, when available, Android (the “App”). Together these are the “Services”.
The App is planned to launch in 2027. Until then, only the Site, the waitlist and support emails process personal data. The App sections below describe how the App is designed to work, and we will update this policy before launch if anything changes.
Who we are and how to contact us
AppFusion, based in the United States, is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
- Privacy questions and requests: privacy@glowcast.cam
- Support: support@glowcast.cam
Where the law requires it (for example, under the EU or UK GDPR), we will appoint a local representative and list their contact details here.

Information we collect
On the Site
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the platform you chose (iPhone or iPad, Android, or both), the page you signed up from, the date, the version of the consent text you agreed to, and your approximate country, which Cloudflare derives from your connection at the moment you sign up. We do not store your IP address.
- Security check. The waitlist form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at browser and connection signals to tell people from bots. Turnstile does not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. See Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum.
- Delivery and security logs. Like every website, our hosting provider Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser type and the pages you request to deliver the Site and protect it from attacks. We do not use these logs to identify you.
- Analytics. If we measure Site traffic, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not track you across sites.
- Cookies. The Site does not set advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies when it needs to block abuse.
In the App
- Content you create. Shows, fitted layouts (“saved fits”), text, colours and photos you add are stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud backup, they are stored in your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access.
- Camera and photos. The camera is used to take a photo of your house or room for the photo preview, and (in later versions) to help fit a show automatically. Photo access lets you pick images for your shows; the App uses the system photo picker, so it only sees the photos you choose. Photos are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us. If you save a show clip, the App asks for permission to add it to your photo library.
- Microphone. When you turn on “React to music”, the App listens to sound to detect the beat. Audio is analysed in real time on your device and is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
- Local network. In later versions, the App can look for compatible smart projectors on your Wi-Fi network. This discovery stays on your local network.
- Purchases. Payments are handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card or bank details. We receive transaction information through our subscription provider, RevenueCat: product purchased, price and currency, purchase, renewal and expiry dates, trial status, store country and anonymous transaction identifiers.
- Anonymous app identifier. On first launch the App creates a random identifier. It is not linked to your name, email or device advertising ID, and it lets us restore your purchases and count usage without knowing who you are.
- Usage analytics. The App records events such as screens viewed, templates opened and used, how long a show plays, the type and resolution of the projector connection, settings changed and errors. It also records device model, operating system and app version, language and approximate country. We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union. You can turn off usage analytics in the App’s settings.
- Diagnostics. If the App crashes or runs slowly, it sends a diagnostic report (stack trace, device state, app version) to Sentry. We configure Sentry so that reports do not include your photos, text or show content.
- Notifications. Only if you allow notifications, the App registers a push token with Apple and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send the updates you chose, such as new seasonal shows. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings.
- Support. If you contact us, we receive your email address, your message and, if you choose to attach it, a diagnostics bundle (device model, OS and app version, output mode and recent error messages).
Accounts (planned)
Glowcast does not require an account. If we later add optional sign-in (for example Sign in with Apple or Google) for backups across devices or community features, we will update this policy first. Any account you create can be deleted in the App, and we will provide a web page for deletion requests.
How we use information and our legal bases
| Purpose | Legal basis (EU/UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Providing the App and its features, unlocking purchases, restoring purchases | Performance of a contract |
| Sending waitlist and launch emails | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Sending push notifications | Your consent (device permission) |
| Usage analytics to improve the App | Our legitimate interests in understanding and improving the App, or your consent where the law requires it |
| Crash and performance diagnostics | Our legitimate interest in a reliable App |
| Preventing spam, fraud and abuse; securing the Services | Our legitimate interest in protecting the Services and users |
| Meeting tax, accounting and legal obligations | Legal obligation |
We do not use your data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Advertising, tracking and selling data
- Glowcast shows no ads.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and the App does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.
- We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.
- We do not give data to data brokers.
Who we share data with
We share personal data only with service providers that process it on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only to provide their services to us:
- Cloudflare, Inc.: website hosting, content delivery, the waitlist database, Turnstile bot protection and email forwarding.
- RevenueCat, Inc.: managing subscriptions and purchases.
- PostHog Inc.: product analytics, hosted in the EU.
- Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry): crash and performance reporting.
- Google LLC (Firebase Cloud Messaging): delivering push notifications you opted into.
Apple and Google process payments and app downloads as independent controllers under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your data.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. When we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on adequacy decisions (including the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified) or Standard Contractual Clauses, together with additional safeguards where needed.
How long we keep data
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Waitlist entries | Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and no longer than 12 months after the App launches |
| Usage analytics events | Up to 24 months, then deleted or aggregated |
| Crash reports | Up to 90 days |
| Support emails | Up to 24 months after the conversation ends |
| Purchase records | As long as required by tax and accounting law (generally up to 7 years) |
| Delivery and security logs | Short periods set by Cloudflare, typically days |
Content you create in the App stays on your device (and in your iCloud, if enabled) until you delete it or delete the App.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy in a portable format;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data;
- object to or restrict certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time (for example, unsubscribe from emails or turn off notifications); and
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it); to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect it); and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Residents of other U.S. states with privacy laws have similar rights.
To exercise your rights, email privacy@glowcast.cam from the address concerned, or follow the steps on our Delete your data page. Because the App does not use accounts, we may ask for your anonymous app identifier (shown in the App’s settings) or a purchase receipt to find your data. We respond within one month, or sooner where required. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our response.
In-app controls. In the App’s settings you can turn off usage analytics, reset your anonymous identifier, and manage notifications. You can revoke camera, photo, microphone, local network or notification permissions at any time in your device settings.
Deleting your data
See Delete your data for step-by-step instructions, including what we delete, what we must keep, and how long it takes.
Children
The Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Some templates, such as kids’ room themes, are designed for parents to use. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We protect data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls limited to people who need it, secrets management, and providers with strong security certifications. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires.
App permissions summary
| Permission | When the App asks | What it is used for |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | When you take a photo for preview or auto-fit | On-device photo preview and fitting |
| Photos (add only) | When you first save a clip | Saving show clips to your library |
| Microphone | When you first turn on “React to music” | On-device beat detection; never recorded |
| Notifications | When you tap “Notify me” or after your first show | Seasonal updates you chose |
| Local network | When you first search for a smart projector (later versions) | Finding projectors on your Wi-Fi |
Photo selection uses the system picker, which does not require library access.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the Services change. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, notify you in the App or by email before they take effect.
